Girl's Dress Drive
Spring is in the air and it’s time to do some spring cleaning. Over the winter months the kids have grown. With that in mind, students at Munsey Park Elementary School successfully held a girl’s dress drive. In just two days’ time, 120 dresses, piles of ribbons, bows and shoes were overflowing from boxes and bags! The MP Kindness Club coordinated with the 4, 5 and 6th grade students to get the word out to our generous families. The donations will be sent to Central Islip to help ease the cost of buying new dresses for promotion and an end of the year promotional dance.
A posting to social media, from a teacher who works out east, asking for assistance, prompted this effort. The teacher will set up a boutique to making it a special shopping experience for the students. This will certainly help to allow each girl to select one dress for each occasion.
Munsey Park Kindness Club students decorated a drop off box, made flyers and went around to each class to inform them about this spring cleaning, urging students to ask parents, siblings and friends to look through their belongings and upcycle. The generosity was overwhelming!
