La Société honoraire de Français

  • La société honoraire de Français

The French Honor Society aims to make French a part of daily life and to encourage a life-long passion for French. We encourage all French students at MMS and MHS to become involved with the FHS events throughout the year. The FHS strives to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for and an understanding of francophone culture civilization, to promote and perpetuate international friendship, and to reward efforts toward furthering solidarity in the French- speaking world. The FHS was established through presidential order by the AATF in 1949 and remains affiliated with the parent organization. The French Honor Society hopes that all students will participate in our events.

Requirements: In accordance with the Manhasset World Language Department Guidelines for all Language Honor Societies, the requirement for FHS candidates is a minimum un-weighted GPA of 3.67 in French and a minimum un-weighted cumulative GPA of 3.33 in all courses other than World Languages. Candidates must currently be enrolled in French 4 or 5 (AP and Non-AP track) and plan to continue their French studies. Students may apply in October of Level 4. Candidates must demonstrate proof of scholarship, service, citizenship, and character. New members are inducted at the World Language Induction Ceremony.
