    Second Grade - Main Projects for 2013-2014

    Project 1- In the Style of an Artist

     

    Students learned about Austrian artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser.  Students explored his bold shapes, use of bright colors, and how he rejected straight lines in his architecture and and paintings. Students analyzed his use of perspective, some birdseye, others ariel view.  They labeled whether a particular piece was rural, urban or suburban, based on what they knew from their class learning.

    Project 2-Leaf Rubbings

    Students create compositions of fallen leaves.

    Project 3- Van Gogh's House

    After analyzing Vincent Van Gogh's Blue House painting, students used symmetry and contour line to cut out a house to create a silohette. Students incoporated collage and oil pastel drawing onto their houses.
