Over the past years, the Manhasset School District has utilized a number of different web-based tools to organize information for students and to communicate with parents. In 2018, a committee of teachers and administrators was formed to consider whether the tools we were using were sufficient to meet our needs. The committee researched a number of products and ultimately determined that the Canvas Learning Management System was the best long-term choice for our district as it integrates with Google Apps for Education and offers a number of innovative tools to enhance instruction. Canvas is used by a number of top tier colleges and universities.
In January we will be sending parents credentials to use Canvas as an observer. Observer accounts can see what is going on in a course and a calendar of assignments. At that time, you will be able to use the Canvas Parent app, a mobile version of Canvas that helps parents stay up-to-date with their student’s courses. You can download the Canvas Parent app on Android and iOS devices. You will be notified once the parent credentials are prepared.
Please use the "Canvas FAQs" link in the left-hand, vertical navigation bar to see answers to frequently asked questions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sean Adcroft
