How can I use Canvas on my mobile device’s web browser?

Canvas can be accessed through a web browser on Android and iOS devices. Please note that mobile browsers are not fully supported, and some features may not function as expected compared to using a supported desktop browser. For the best experience, we recommend installing the Canvas mobile app on your smartphone. See Canvas Mobile Apps below for more information.

How do I use the Calendar as an observer?

The Canvas Calendar is a helpful tool for viewing student assignments and due dates. It also provides access to the Scheduler, an optional scheduling feature within Canvas. Observers can view assignments and events but cannot submit assignments on behalf of a student.

Which browsers does Canvas support?

Canvas is built using modern web standards and can be accessed on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any device with a current, modern web browser.

Canvas Mobile Apps

Yes—there’s an app for that. Canvas offers separate mobile apps tailored to each role: Teacher, Student, and Observer.

What is a “What-If” Grade?

What-If Grades allow students to estimate their overall course grade by entering hypothetical scores for assignments. These grades are visible only to the student and do not affect official grades. Only students can enter and view What-If scores.
