At its February 17^th meeting, the Board of Education of the Manhasset Union Free School District unanimously appointed Dr. Gaurav Passi as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools, effective July 11, 2022.

The Board makes this important decision after having had the great benefit of observing and working closely with Dr. Passi as he fulfilled the role of Acting Superintendent for the past ten months. During this time, Dr. Passi has helped guide the District through several significant challenges with aplomb.

In carrying out his duties, Dr. Passi has demonstrated a leadership style that is student-focused and backed by intelligence, skill, compassion, creativity, and care. “My continued focus is on cultivating a warm, caring, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment for each of our students,” Dr. Passi said.  “I am looking forward to continuing to enhance our programs and course offerings to provide students with valuable opportunities to develop their talents and hone their interests.”

Dr. Passi brings a wealth of educational and leadership experience. He began his career in 2003 as a social studies teacher and his subsequent administrative experience includes serving as an administrative dean, and over 11 years as a high school building administrator. Prior to serving as Acting Superintendent, Dr. Passi was appointed as Manhasset’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in July 2019, with responsibilities added for Personnel in 2020.

Board President Pat Aitken said, “The Board is very grateful that Dr. Passi has accepted this position and we look forward to continuing to work with him to support our wonderful students, faculty, staff, and administration.  We have no doubt that Dr. Passi will lead our District in a way that will make us all proud.”
