Mrs. Pam McDonough

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Pam McDonough

It is with great pride that I am here at Manhasset for my 38th year. Time has flown by! An official recently asked me, “Where did you grow up?” My reply was “I have lived in Port Washington all of my life, but, I actually grew up in Manhasset!”

I attended Springfield College in Massachusetts, for my Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. While there, I played (club) Women’s Lacrosse (they did not have a Varsity team until my senior year) and was also very active in Student Government, New Student Orientation, and was a Resident Assistant for 2 years. Upon graduation, I was the proud recipient of the Beveridge Award, and in 1988, I received the Young Alumnus Award. My masters was completed at Hofstra University in Health Education. I have taught Elementary and High School Physical Education, Health Education, and Drivers Education in my early years.

I had the great opportunity to perform my student teaching here at Manhasset, and I was trained by my mentors, Barbara Hoffman, Bobbi Straus, and Sharon Moritz (at Munsey Park). During that time, I coached the JV Volleyball team. I have also coached through the years, Field Hockey, Middle School Volleyball, Varsity Girls Basketball and was the first Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach. I have always been proud of all of my athletes, but I am especially proud of our 1985 and 1988 New York State Championships teams in Lacrosse, and the several County Championships in Field Hockey.

Besides teaching the High School Adaptive Program, I am very happy to be teaching all 9/10th grade classes this year. Students have been vibrant, and very willing to learn! During the year, we will be engaged in activities and games for Tennis, Volleyball, Fitness, CPR (with certification if desired), Basketball, Floor Hockey, Soccer, Group Games, and Wiffleball. The 9/10 curriculum focuses on team sports, and enhancing cooperation within sports. The year goes very quickly! Please see the course expectation sheet to the left of this page for information regarding grading, attendance, medicals and other pertinent information about our program.

Besides being involved in sports and supervision, in my spare time, I love to go to the beach, I enjoy knitting and gardening and spending time with family and friends. I have 2 daughters that I am most proud of Kelly, who is presently a Junior at Marist College and Erin who is a Freshman at NCC.
