#Teens Respect Teens
The objective of the #Teens Respect Teens Club is to promote awareness of teen dating abuse/ sexual assault in high school through education, with the ultimate goal of prevention now and in the future. The club also strives to help remove the stigma against victims of dating abuse/sexual assault and helps to provide support to those who feel they have been harassed/assaulted, by guiding them to seek help from an appropriate adult. Members participate in events during National Teen Dating Violence Month (February) and Sexual Assault Awareness month (April) as well as other related activities/events throughout the year.

1680 Club
The 1680 club aims to help students combine their passion for social studies with current events. Students spend time discussing and watching the news, researching topics of interest and planning and engaging in club discussions/debates. We work to make connections between lessons being taught in social studies courses to real world events. The 1680 club is open to both middle school and high school students. The club meets roughly about once a month – see our website for specific dates.

Art Club (Middle School)
The members will share artistic expressions with the school and the community. The club creates a common place where students can come to express themselves artistically. Club is open to any 7th and 8th students who enjoy the visual arts.
Some of the activities we might be doing this year: Fall Festival: Art for a Cure; NYSATA Portfolio Project; bake sales; Different themes and techniques each month; Display their art work at the Winter Concert, A trip to a Museum in the area of Manhasset.

Art Honor Society
The club members will share artistic expression with the school and the community and show that creativity creates a common place where students can express themselves. The club is open to 9-12 grade students who have had at least ½ a credit in art in High School and minimum of A- in that class. Participation in activities, fundraisers and public relations is also required.
Some of the activities we might be doing this year: Fall Festival; Art for a Cure; Movie night; Murals; Bake Sales, Paint night; Clothing Upcycling

Best Buddies Club
Best Buddies Club is a nonprofit organization. It is a club for High School students. It consists of volunteers that create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The program's main purpose is to allow volunteers to be paired up with a buddy with an intellectual and developmental disability and provide them with a friend or a mentor.[1] Best Buddies is dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Chief Yearbook (Middle School)
The Manhasset Middle School Yearbook, “The Chief”, is a great way to explore your creative side! When you join, you can help with taking pictures, creating layouts, and editing pages. The yearbook staff chooses the cover of the book AND who the book will be dedicated to. It’s great practice for the high school yearbook!

Coding Club
The Coding Club is open to all students who are interested in the world of coding and programming. Members range from seniors taking AP courses to middle school students who are curious about coding basics. We frequently participate in challenges, contests, and workshops to learn and test ourselves. Members are able to explore coding in their own way with collaborative projects and time to explore their passions.

Cultural Club
The Cultural Club’s mission is to create a place for students of different cultural backgrounds to share their heritage/culture/language, as well as to help those students who have recently arrived to Manhasset from other countries. Club members will work closely with the ENL program to serve as informal mentors to our newest students and assist them in their transition to the Secondary School. This club plans to offer opportunities and events to highlight and celebrate different cultures of students attending the Secondary School.

The mission of the Dance Club is to create a club in which students can express themselves through all genres of dance. Performances would be made at the Pep Rally, Homecoming and possibly other school-wide events throughout the year.

Economics and Finance Club
The Economics and Finance Club seeks to expose students to contemporary economic and financial issues and to engage students with the exploration of careers and professions from the various subfields within economics and finance. Students simulate virtual stock market investments and monitor trades and also contribute to the construction and organization of a speaker-series with community members.

Engineering Club
Members of the Engineering Club would complete various engineering-related projects throughout the year. The club would offer a multidisciplinary approach whereby proposed projects could span the various disciplines of engineering such as, mechanical, electrical, robotics, aeronautical, rocketry, automotive, materials, civil, environmental etc. offering students a wide range of experiences. Furthermore, the delineation of the 5 steps: idea generation, project selection, budgeting, design and testing, and implementation/execution, would provide a real world perspective of the engineering process as experienced in a professional setting.

English Honor Society
The English Honor Society is reserved for students who perform exceptionally well in all areas of English/Language Arts. Students must spend five to ten periods per quarter peer responding and/or participating in other English Department clubs. They also help organize various activities and festivals throughout the year. Current members take part in welcoming new members at the induction ceremony in the fall and celebrating writing achievements at the Writers’ Assembly in the spring.

Feminism Club
The Feminism Club will provide students with an opportunity to gain education, knowledge and a connection with others about feminism. The club will offer discussion about the role and perception of feminism in our community as well as the different subsets and core tenets of feminism. To educate the broader school community the Club will post flyers with feminist people, facts, and statistics, have regular announcements featuring feminist information, and celebrate important days for feminism, such as International Women’s Day. The Feminism Club will host various events, such as feminist-themed Movie Nights and Women in Power Speaker Series. The Feminism Club’s primary goals are to educate the student body on the meaning and importance of feminism, and then use such an awareness to make a positive and meaningful impact on the movement

French Honor Society
The French Honor Society hopes to bring together all French students at Manhasset High School and Middle School by providing activities for the society as well as French students. The aim of this organization is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for and an understanding of Francophone culture civilization, and to reward efforts toward furthering solidarity in the French- speaking world. The SHF was established through presidential order by the AATF in 1949 and remains affiliated with the parent organization. Even if not inducted, all French students are welcome to participate in the events of the French Honor Society.

Gay Straight Alliance
The Gay-Straight Alliance meets to discuss current local, national, and international news that impact LGBTQ people, plan events such as the Day of Silence, National Coming Out Day, and creating additional all-gender bathrooms. We also plan social events such as film nights with GSAs from other school districts. We believe that the Manhasset public schools will be truly safe only when every student is assured access to education without fear of harassment, bullying, or violence.

Green Club
Manhasset High School’s Green Club is a welcoming community where students gather every other week and learn new ways to contribute to their community. Not only are members aware of the most current environmental issues, but they discover new ways to contribute towards improving their community on a local and personal level. Through beach clean ups or SCA fair community service hours, members learn to recycle and value old materials. Furthermore, whether members go around the school to collect all the recycles or gather together for movie nights, their minds are stimulated and exposed to new and intriguing subjects. As a member, you will have access and opportunity available to work in the school garden and/or communicate with other environmental organizations that we donate to. Overall, we believe any small effort can have the largest effect beyond the barriers of our small town.

The Manhasset Hellenic Club is devoted to the understanding and the spreading of the history of Hellenic culture, traditions, and values. It aspires to promote a greater understanding of the rich cultural heritage of Greece. The Hellenic club supports the principles of the Hellenic culture including a commitment to humanity, freedom and democracy. It is open to all Manhasset high school students of Greek and non-Greek descent. OPA!

Indian Ink
Indian Ink is Manhasset Secondary School's online school newspaper, open to all students in grades 7-12. Since we are an online publication, anyone is welcome to join any time of the year, and you may write stories as often as you wish. We are always looking for school and national news stories, features, movie/book/concert reviews, school and national sports articles, and op-ed pieces.

Interact Club
The purpose of the Interact Club is to provide opportunity for young people to work together in a world fellowship dedicated to service and international understanding. The club organizes community service events to help out people from nearby or from other countries. The club regularly sponsors life-saving heart surgery for children through the Gift of Life Inc.

Italian Honor Society
The Italian Honor Society is reserved for students who perform exceptionally well in Italian. Students must dedicate one morning to tutoring in the World Language Lab. Junior Booster Club
The Junior Booster Club is an environment for students to volunteer and give back to our schools athletic program. We volunteer to work various school wide events to raise money for Booster Club, which supports our Manhasset High School sport programs. Many of our Junior Booster Club events include selling food and beverages in the concession stand, as well as clothing apparel at sporting events. Our club meetings are run by student leaders, in which we select new clothing apparel to sell, brain storm new ideas and select certain events we would like to volunteer our time. Junior Booster Club is offered to any high school student that would like to join. It is a great way to get involved, give back and show school spirit!

Junior Tower Club
This community-based club will work hand-in-hand with the Tower Foundation, a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise funds to enrich the educational experience of the students in the Manhasset Public Schools. The Junior Tower Club will help to plan, organize, and execute significant events throughout the year. Some of these events include the Manhasset Fall Festival (October 6th), Bingo Night (November 15th), and the Tower Dinner Dance (March 9th). In addition, the members of the Junior Tower Club will help to establish a better connection between the school and its graduates.

Key Club
Manhasset Key Club is a student-led, high school organization. Key Club is an international organization sponsored by Kiwanis and typically has over 150 members each year. The club was built on the concept of caring, thus the purpose is community service. Members are asked to perform a required number of service hours by participating in pancake breakfast, donation collections, conducting food drives, and many other fundraisers. Key Club is the club for those who are interested in making a difference. Our members make the world a better place through service. In doing so, they grow as individuals and as leaders by answering the call to lead, summoning the courage to engage and developing the heart to serve.

Math Honor Society
The Math Honor Society is reserved for students who perform exceptionally well in mathematics. These students must spend at least three periods per quarter tutoring in the math lab. They also help organize Manhasset’s Pi Day and teach lessons at both Munsey Park and Shelter Rock at the end of the year. Current members also take part in welcoming new members at the November induction ceremony.

The Junior Mathletes (Grades 7 and 8) encourage both individual and team achievement by competing in local math competitions. The Junior Mathletes Team competes with neighboring schools. Highest achievers go on to participate in more selective and challenging math contests, and are eligible to win awards.

Mock Trial
Mock Trial is a club that teaches students how to work in a group, think on their feet, articulate their ideas intelligently and spontaneously, and be more convincing and confident public speakers. Each year, the Manhasset Mock Trial Team competes in tournament organized by the Nassau County Bar Association. The NCBA will send us a packet detailing the events of a fictional court case. We are given two sides of the case (defense and prosecution/plaintiff), each with three witnesses. On the team, six people will act as these witnesses, learning their affidavits and eventually taking the stand both to give testimony and receive cross-examination. Another six people will be attorneys for either the defense or the prosecution/plaintiff. Attorneys will direct their witnesses, cross-examine a witness on the other side, and possibly even write and deliver an opening or closing statement. Ultimately, the team will have the opportunity to argue both sides of the case against other schools in simulated trials presided over by real judges.

Model United Nations
Model United Nations is a club that focuses on international diplomacy and current affairs. Students act as delegates by representing UN member countries in simulations. Students will have the opportunity to make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the Model UN conference rules of procedure- all in the interest of mobilizing "international cooperation" to resolve problems that affect countries all over the world. Each year students will have the opportunity to participate in conferences within the greater New York City area, including a three day conference at Hofstra University in March. In the months prior to the conference, students will conduct research on their nation and topic.

National Honor Society
The National Honor Society is reserved for Juniors and Seniors who meet the national requirements of character, leadership, community service and academics. The group meets monthly to plan and execute service events that benefit both our school and our community. Past events include Open House tour guides, a toiletry drive for Project Share, a beach clean-up, making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a homeless shelter, and our annual Pink Out fundraiser for the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer. An additional fundraiser is held at the end of the year, and NHS members are asked to select two charities that are important to them which will then receive a donation.

National Junior Honor Society
Membership in the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is awarded to exclusively to Middle School Students in the 8th grade, who have earned a GPA of at least 93.00 through the 4 quarters of 7th grade and the first quarter of 8th grade. Identified candidates will be emailed an application in early December. Notification of acceptance is in January, and an induction ceremony occurs the last week of January.
Members of the Manhasset Middle School Chapter of the NJHS are involved in various service functions in the school and community. NJHS meetings are held in the Middle School Library, the second and third Wednesday of the month, and as service opportunities occur.

Peer Responders
The Manhasset English Department is very pleased to invite Middle School students to participate in the Peer Responder Mentor Program, which is an optional resource for students to work collaboratively throughout the school year with an assigned Peer Responder Mentor. The goal of the program is to provide enrichment, remediation, academic guidance, and transition support to Middle School students in all subject areas with an emphasis on the essential skills of organization, task analysis and completion, time management, exam preparation, and written expression. Students and PR Mentors will schedule mutually convenient appointments as necessary before, during, and/or after school. The Peer Responder Mentor Program is supervised by Mr. Koondel, 7th grade English teacher, in consultation with Dr. Chowske (District Coordinator of English Language Arts and Reading K-12), the English Honor Society Advisors, and Middle School teams.

Science Fiction Club
The Science Fiction Club is an easygoing club that welcomes both Middle and High School students to join. In this club, we enjoy playing games ranging from board games like Samurai Sword and Sucking Vacuum or different roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) and Civilizations. We encourage all who join to become a player in any game being run that has space available. We hope to foster the creativity of our club members as they conquer the challenges encountered in playing these games.

Science Honor Society
Manhasset's Science Honor Society exists to promote the study of and appreciation for the sciences. Composed of students who excel in Manhasset's science programs, the honor society serves as a chapter of New York State's Science Honor Society. From the NYSSHS Constitution, this honor society stands to enhance the scientific knowledge of all students in Manhasset, to foster enthusiasm for scholarship and leadership for future scientists, and to stimulate service towards the science department, school, and community. Featuring annual local beach cleanings, tutoring programs, and scientific teaching events, the Science Honor Society utilizes its diligent, active members to stimulate the growth of scientific knowledge in its local to global community.

Science Olympiad
The Science Olympiad Team competes in the Nassau County regional competition with other teams from across Long Island. Each year, there are 25 different events covering all branches of science, technology, and engineering. Students will be working with their partners and teammates to prepare for their events. Teams which qualify in the regional competition advance to the state level competition. All who are interested in science are welcome to join! Go Science!

Social Studies Honor Society
The National History Honor Society of Manhasset High School, 1680 Chapter, is affiliated with the National History Club Honor Society. Our purpose is to recognize achievement in social studies, promote knowledge and understanding of social studies, and encourage enthusiasm for the study of history and the role of a good citizen.

Spanish Honor Society
The Society organizes numerous events that celebrate Hispanic cultures as well as raise money for charitable causes in Latin America and the US. Some of these events include The Ofrenda of Día de los Muertos, Churros con Chocolate Fundraiser to sponsor the education of a child in Guatemala, a holiday collection for Círculo de Hispanidad, a local charity for Hispanic families on Long Island, Hearts for Help fundraiser for UNICEF, ‘Moe’s for Niños’ fundraiser to raise money for the charity of choice that year.
The application process for the NSHH begins in September. Prior to the first meeting, eligible students will receive a letter in their Spanish classes informing them of the requirements and steps to apply for membership. Students are invited to join the Society on a probationary basis. In order to join, candidates meet the following requirements:
- be at least a sophomore who has completed levels 1,2,3 (this is most often during students' junior year)
- a 3.67 GPA in Spanish
- an overall 3.33 GPA in all other subjects
Membership is granted only to those students who continue to demonstrate exemplary achievement in Spanish and display commitment and dedication to Society.

Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT)
Athletes Helping Athletes (AHA) has been designing and delivering educational programs for students, athletes, coaches, officials and administrators for 30 years to help families, schools and communities address complex social issues. Since 1984, more than 600,000 students, children, coaches and educators in the U.S. and Canada have benefited from AHA programs that promote positive life lessons and a healthy sports environment. AHA is committed to highlighting the positive influence that sports can have on society.
Manhasset's chapter of Athletes Helping Athletes is a program called S.A.L.T., the Student Athlete Leadership Team. This team emphasizes the positive elements and innumerable life lessons that we learn through our sports experiences. Student athletes that are selected for the team go to three training sessions at Molloy College and then push into the sixth grade classes at Munsey Park and Shelter Rock schools to teach lessons about building character, sportsmanship and making positive, healthy decisions such as choosing to be a substance free student athlete.
Interested in joining? The application process for this club starts in April. Students interested in applying can download the application from this website to complete. Once completed it can be turned in to Coach Sadeh or Coach Fabio. After the applications are reviewed, students will be notified via email on whether or not they were selected to move forward to the interview round. Selected students will be interviewed by a panel of teachers and coaches and the final selections for the team will then be made for the following school year.

Students Taking an Active Role (STAR) Club
STAR (Students Taking an Active Role) Club will offer students an opportunity to connect with their peers and other students both during and outside of school. The focus of the club is to promote acceptance of all students regardless of their background/differences, recognize bias, and explore the value of diversity in the hopes of creating a more inclusive, unifying student body. Students will learn how to build relationships with their peers by trying to connect with students who may feel isolated. STAR club is open to both middle school and high school students.

Tower Yearbook
The Tower Yearbook Club’s primary objective is to create the high school yearbook. The club meets on Thursdays after school in the Language Lab beginning in September. If you are interested in photography, graphic design, computers, videography, publishing, and editing, this is the club for you! All members are required to photograph a MINIMUM of 10 school events, concerts, sports, plays, club life, etc. throughout the year in order to earn credit for the club. In addition, members are required to learn the yearbook publishing software in order to design the pages of the yearbook. Responsibilities also include proof reading, editing, organizing, sorting, marketing and videography. All meetings are mandatory. For more information please see Ms. Mellace in the Language Lab.
