1680 Club
This is the Manhasset history club. Students share historical topics they are interested in and are given the oppurtunity to discuss these topics and have small debates as a club. Students lead their own learning as they explore their interest in Social Studies and History.

American Sign Language Club
The mission of the ASL Club is to provide students of the Manhasset Secondary building (grades 7-12) an environment to practice and advance their American Sign Language skills. The ASL Club was created to explore and learn more about the Deaf community and interact when able to further the student’s respect and understanding of the Deaf community and Deaf culture. The ASL Club discusses, shares, and promotes an understanding of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. By increasing awareness and knowledge of deaf people, their culture and increasing access to resources regarding ASL will open new doors for the students in the Manhasset Secondary School. ASL Club meetings will be held to get to know each other, practice using basic ASL and learning about Deaf culture. Membership is open to all students (7-12 graders), faculty and staff who share the same interest in learning ASL. The ASL Club of Manhasset will maintain a fun, friendly, safe and welcoming place for all students to be included in activities using ASL.

Art Club
To offer an experience for students interested in art, to create projects, share ideas and foster their skills through discussions, critiques and collaborative efforts. Students will understand how working with other creative thinkers can impact their individual art as well as benefit their peers and/or larger community in rewarding ways by sharing/displaying their artwork.

Art Honor Society
The Art Honor Society focuses on bringing attention to Art in the school and the community while inspiring and recognizing students who have shown outstanding ability in art. Students focus on fundraising for various organizations through art related activities and events.

Best Buddies Club
(IDD). The program's main purpose is to allow volunteers to be paired up with a buddy with an intellectual and developmental disability and provide them with a friend or a mentor. Best Buddies is dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Advisor: Ms. Nancy Domenech
Meetings: Last Tuesday of the month for all club memebers at 3:15p. Officers meet the first Thursday of the month at 7:40am in room 108 (Home & Carrers room) Buddy Pairs meet weekly on their own time.

Book Club
To encourage students to engage in insightful discussions about social issues through literature. Students will expand their social horizons and gain a greater understanding of others, as well as improve their critical reading skills, by being exposed to a variety of authors and genres.

Broadcast Journalism Club
To provide students with a safe, inclusive space to create content for the Manhasset Broadcasting Company, specifically Good Morning Manhasset (a weekly news show that goes out to the students at MHS on Friday mornings at 8:55 a.m. Students learn all facets of broadcast production and are able to produce/direct/write/film/edit news and other content.

Class of 2023
The goal of the Class of 2023 is to encourage the class in coordinating events and activities for the students in the class. This is also a leadership and collaboration opportunity for the students and it allows them to get involved in planning events specific for their grade as well as events that can bring the school community together.

Class of 2024
The goal of the class of 2024 is to encourage student involvement and engagement. Activities are developed through student data collection and further planned by class officiers and advisors. The club is implementing opportunities for community service through volunteer opportunities with veterans. Additionally, the Class of 2024 has impleneted an annual beach clean up for community service.

Class of 2025
The goal of the Class of 2025 is to encourage the class to be involved in coordinating events and activities for the students in their class. Coding Club
Our purpose is to provide a welcoming environment where we can improve our coding ability, work together on projects, participate in competitions and challenges, explore aspects of coding not introduced in classes such as creating a GUI, and learn different languages.

Cultural Club
The Cultural Club’s mission is to create a place for students of different cultural backgrounds to share their heritage/culture/language, as well as to help students who have recently arrived to Manhasset from other countries. Club members will work closely with the ENL program to serve as informal mentors to our newest students and assist them in their transition to the Secondary School. This club plans to offer opportunities and events to highlight and celebrate different cultures of students attending the Secondary School.

Economics and Finance Club
The Economics and Finance Club seeks to expose students to contemporary economic and financial issues and to engage students with the exploration of careers and professions from the various subfields within economics and finance. Students simulate virtual stock market investments and monitor trades and also contribute to the construction and organization of a speaker-series with community members.

Engineering Club
The Manhasset High School Engineering Club is a school based club, working to enhance the skills of young boys and girls, in terms of problem solving, teamwork, and cooperation. The goal of this club is to teach students new skills and learn how to operate different types of tools and how to program robots. This club conducts a variety of projects from working with vex kits, to woodworking, to building rockets. In addition, the students will be able to apply the knowledge they gain from their projects, to problems out in the real world.

Feminism Club
To spread awareness about feminism within the Manhasset community and dispel its misconceptions. To then use this increased awareness to host feminist events (Women in Power speaker series, feminist movie nights, merchandise sales, et cetera) that will raise money for a women’s rights charity.

French Honor Society
The French Honor Society hopes to bring together all French students at Manhasset High School and Middle School by providing activities for the society as well as French students. The aim of this organization is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for and an understanding of Francophone culture civilization, and to reward efforts toward furthering solidarity in the French- speaking world.

Gay Straight Alliance
The mission of the Gay-Straight Alliance is to help create a more accepting environment for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, through education, social action, advocacy, and support. We believe that the Manhasset public schools will be truly safe only when every student is assured access to education without fear of harassment, bullying, or violence.

Indian Ink
We are the online student newspaper—we cover school and national/international news, sports, and politics, arts and entertainment, and science/tech. We reach both the middle- and the high-school student body, and students from grades 7-12 are welcome to join.

Italian Honor Society
The Italian Honor Society is reserved for students who perform exceptionally well in Italian. Students must dedicate one morning to tutoring in the World Language Lab. They also help organize various activities and festivals throughout the year. Current members take part in welcoming new members at the induction ceremony in the spring.

Junior Booster Club
The Junior Booster Club is the student counterpart to the Manhasset Booster Club. Where we are responsible for organizing volunteers, to assist in school run and sports based events. Our goal is to raise money to support all athletics. The Junior Booster Club membership and participation is open to all students of the Manhasset Community, regardless if they are an athlete or not. Junior Booster Club is active the whole year, with its main fundraising events occurring in the fall and spring (concessions stand opportunities). By raising money for athletics the Junior Booster Club hopes to strengthen the entire community, through our Manhasset pride, and our passion and love for competition.

Key Club
Manhasset Key Club is a student-led, high school organization. Key Club is an international organization sponsored by Kiwanis and typically has over 150 members each year. The club was built on the concept of caring, thus the purpose is community service. Members are asked to perform a required number of service hours by participating in pancake breakfast, donation collections, conducting food drives, and many other fundraisers. Key Club is the club for those who are interested in making a difference. Our members make the world a better place through service. In doing so, they grow as individuals and as leaders by answering the call to lead, summoning the courage to engage and developing the heart to serve.

Marketing Club
The Manhasset Marketing Club will give members practical marketing experience through collaborations with top-tier companies (sourced through Cornell Marketing Organization and Manhasset parents’ and alumni business connections). Through our partnership with Cornell Marketing Organization, high school students will work with college students to gain business acumen as well as real- world marketing experience. This will help members by connecting them with companies such as McDonalds, Under Armour, Cinnabon, Make a Wish, Five Guys, House of Diamonds, and many more successful companies. This club is not to be confused with other business/finance clubs at Manhasset High School as this will solely focus on marketing and consulting and help students develop their ability to develop corporate marketing strategies, execute marketing plans and initiatives, and understand consumer motivation, psychology, and the neuroscience behind consumer purchases.

Math Honor Society
Math Honor Society recognizes outstanding student achievement in Mathematics. Upon induction, students in Math Honor Society focus on helping younger students at both the Elementary School level (through a once a year visit) and Secondary level (through peer tutoring) succeed in math.

Mathletes Grades 7-8
Junior Mathletes provides students with the opportunity to participate in math competitions for students who love math and problems solving. Students compete individually as well as collaboratively in various local and international math competitions.

Middle School Government (Class of 2025/2026)
The goal of student government is to have students assume leadership positions and coordinate activities involving both the school and community. It is our hope that students will work on independent community service activities and involve as many students as possible in both grades 7 & 8.

Model United Nations offers students the opportunity to engage in simulations of diplomacy with other students. We prefer for MUN conferences that are held at local high schools and universities.

National Junior Honor Society
The Manhasset Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an honor awarded to 8th grade students. The NJHS members are involved in various service activities in the school; and community such as 6th grade Parent Night and 6th grade Lunch on the Lawn. The NJHS also conducts a service activity "Adopt a Sailor."Any questions may be directed to Mrs. Moody NJHS advisor.

Peer Responders
Manhasset High School has a unique and award-winning Peer Responder Mentor Program, which The New York State English Council designated as a “Program of Excellence.” Peer Responders Mentors, a select group of English students in 10th, 11th and 12th grade English, are trained in peer tutoring techniques.The Manhasset English Department is very pleased to invite Middle School students to participate in the Peer Responder Mentor Program, which is an optional resource for students to work collaboratively throughout the school year with an assigned Peer Responder Mentor. The goal of the program is to provide enrichment, remediation, academic guidance, and transition support to Middle School students in all subject areas with an emphasis on the essential skills of organization, task analysis and completion, time management, exam preparation, and written expression. Students and PR Mentors will schedule mutually convenient appointments as necessary before, during, and/or after school. The Peer Responder Mentor Program is supervised by Mr. Koondel, 7th grade English teacher, in consultation with the English Honor Society Advisors and Middle School teams.

Phoenix
To provide an outlet for individuals to create, read, view, and edit, original literary and artistic works by Manhasset Secondary School students. The Phoenix aims to maintain a diverse membership, giving all students the chance to express themselves openly and interact with others with varying perspectives. The ultimate goal of The Phoenix is to produce a distinguished, state-of-the-art literary magazine at the end of each school year.

Photography Club
The purpose of the Photography Club is to provide students with an opportunity to take photographs, practice editing skills, and learn how to improve their photographs on either a phone or DSLR camera. Club members will take and share photographs with each other, as well as organize activities/events where they can promote their photography.

Poetry Coffee House
Poetry Coffee House is a cultural even that takes place three evenings each school year. Students have the opportunity to read poetry or perform musical pieces in front of an audience. Each event has a theme and there is always an emphasis on creating a safe and intimate space where students feel comfortable to be vulnerable and creative.

SALT (Student Athlete Leadership Team)
Provide direction and leaderhsip as a club to all students. Members serve as mentors and examples to younger athletes. Develop personal leadership skills and public speaking. Athletes will learn about team culture and then implement those ideas/practices to their teams. Students will have the opportunity to attend conferences as well as have the opportuntiy to push into 6th grade classes and share what it means to be a student athlete and demonstrate leadership both on and off the field.

Science Fiction Club
The Science Fiction Club is an easygoing club that welcomes both Middle and High School students to join. In this club, we enjoy playing games ranging from board games like Samurai Sword and Sucking Vacuum or different roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) and Civilizations. We encourage all who join to become a player in any game being run that has space available. We hope to foster the creativity of our club members as they conquer the challenges encountered in playing these games.

Spanish Honor Society
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica Nacional (NSHH) was founded to recognize students' academic excellence in Spanish. It also promotes continuity of interest in the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures by providing opportunities to use the language and experience the culture. The club also aims to connect with the Hispanic community both abroad and local and establish connections with philanthropic efforts to help said communities. Membership is granted to those students who continue to demonstrate exemplary achievement in Spanish and display commitment and dedication to Society.

STAR (Students Taking an Active Role)
STAR (Students Taking an Active Role) Club will offer students an opportunity to connect with their peers to promote acceptance of all students regardless of their background/differences to create a more inclusive, unifying student body. Students will perform activities that promote a postiive school climate, welcome new students and break down the barriers. STAR club is open to both middle school and high school students.

Student Senate
The purpose of the Student Senate is to represent the student body in its totality and ensure that every student’s voice is heard; to create and promote avenues of communications among students, and between students and administration; to discuss and review school policy; to work in collaboration with the community; and to represent the interests of the student body to the administration and, when necessary, the Board of Education. In short, the basic function of the Student Senate is to provide a forum in which clubs can express their individual concerns.

The purpose of this chapter will be to recognize the musical and personal achievements of our members, promote knowledge and understanding of music in all forms, inspire enthusiasm for the study of music, work with the district-wide music community to strengthen our school's music program, encourage members to reach their full musical potential, motivate and inspire members to collaborate and work towards the same goal, focus public attention on our school's music program through community service, and work to active improve and expand the impact of music on our community.

Unified Sports Team/YAC
Special Olympics "Unified Sports Team" is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. The Youth Activity Club (YAC) plan activities that promote and advocate for respect, inclusion, and acceptance of all people. YAC's take responsibility for promoting and sustaining the Unified Sports team while creating a more inclusive school climate through various whole school engagement campaigns.

Writing Contests/Assembly Program
Our mission is to cultivate a culture of writing and to promote literary excellence. We aspire to motivate, encourage, and inspire emerging writers to explore various writing genres, including but not limited to, poetry, flash fiction, critical essay, personal memoir, and journalism. The Writers’ Awards Assembly is our opportunity to publicly recognize, congratulate, and award the students who have participated in contests and competitions throughout the school year.

Yearbook - HS
The purpose of this club is to create the high school Tower Yearbook. Students in the club are responsible to photograph school events included in the yearbook, gather quotes and stories about special events that happen throughout the year, photograph Varsity and JV sports teams, create and develop a yearbook theme, and create and develop the pages included in the High School Tower yearbook. Students are also responsibile to distribute the yearbook to students in June.

Meetings: Thursdays after school in the Language Lab (260)
Open to students in grades: Club is open to HS students. Students MUST be able to attend meetings in order to be a member of the club.

Yearbook - MS
The purpose of this club is to create the middle school yearbook, The Chief, to document the events/memories from the year. Middle school students in the club are responsible for photographing candid photos for the yearbook, choosing a cover, dedicating the book to a faculty member, and helping to create the pages within the book. Students are also responsibile for organizing the books for distribution once they arrive in the spring.
