Manhasset Educator Honored with Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Teacher Award

The district is proud to congratulate Manhasset High School science research teacher Alison Huenger on receiving the 2025 Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Teacher Award. Ms. Huenger is one of only ten recipients nationwide selected for this honor.

This award is presented by the U.S. Department of Defense and administered through the National Science Teaching Association to recognize educators for excellence in promoting STEM research at the high school level. The award, which includes a $1,000 stipend, is provided to support educators who foster student engagement in science and research.

“What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that the nomination came not only from Dr. Panayiotis Meleties, Regional Director for the NY-Long Island JSHS region, but also from my students,” said Ms. Huenger. “I’m deeply honored by this award and grateful to be part of a school community that values and champions student-led inquiry and innovation.”

Congratulations, Ms. Huenger, and thank you for your commitment and dedication to our students and your relentless passion for your craft.
