Six Seniors Selected for National Merit Scholarships

The district congratulates six Manhasset High School seniors who were recently named National Merit Scholarship winners and will receive scholarships from NMSC in the amount of $2,500 each. This prestigious recognition highlights their exceptional academic abilities and potential for success in college.

The selected students from the Class of 2025 are Jonathan Liu Chen, Colin Hairabedian, Loic Hairabedian, Jonas Kim, Alena Tsai and Emily Zhao.

These Manhasset Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 national finalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.

These students entered the National Merit Scholarship Program in 2023 by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. To become finalists, they fulfilled multiple requirements, including a scholarship application with essay, extracurricular involvement and outstanding academic records.
