Manhasset Music Department Receives NYSSMA Presidential Citation Award
The district is thrilled to announce that the Manhasset Public Schools music department has been honored with the Presidential Citation Award from the New York State School Music Association – the organization’s highest recognition for school music programs. Manhasset was one of only two districts in New York State to receive this prestigious award this year.
This award recognizes the depth and excellence of our K–12 music education program, reflecting a comprehensive curriculum delivered by outstanding educators who consistently go above and beyond for every student. Many of our music teachers also take on leadership roles at the county, state and national levels, sharing their expertise and contributing to the broader music education community.
The recognition also highlights the strong support of our community. Parents attend concerts, support rehearsals and help provide enriching opportunities through the School Community Association, ensuring that all students have access to musical experiences.
Our students’ achievements further reflect the excellence of the program, from acceptance into All-County, All-State, and national honor ensembles to consistent recognition at prestigious competitions such as the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. These accomplishments demonstrate the culture of excellence, effort and dedication fostered by our teachers, students, families and entire school community.
NYSSMA, the largest professional organization for music educators in New York State, represents more than 730 public school districts. The Presidential Citation Award will be formally presented at the NYSSMA Winter Conference in Rochester this December.
We are incredibly proud of our students, educators and the entire Manhasset community for helping make this achievement possible! 🎶💙
