Shelter Rock First Graders Shine in "3 Piggy Opera" Performance
On April 17, the Shelter Rock stage transformed into a vibrant world of music and storytelling as our first grade students presented their highly anticipated performance of the 3 Piggy Opera. Performing for a full house of parents and families, the students brought the classic tale to life with incredible energy, creativity and poise.
Learning Through the Arts
The 3 Piggy Opera is a cornerstone of the first-grade experience, serving as a powerful example of arts integration. By connecting the performance directly to the curriculum, students reinforced their literacy and storytelling skills through the medium of song and stagecraft. This hands-on approach allows our youngest learners to experience narrative structure and character development in a memorable, multi-sensory way.
A Team Effort
This production was made possible through the collaborative guidance of our dedicated staff:
- The First Grade Teachers integrated the story's themes into daily classroom lessons.
- Music Teacher Ms. Faltings helped students find their voices and master the musical score.
- Art Teacher Mrs. Pleines worked with students to create the visual world of the production.
Celebrating Confidence and Teamwork
Beyond the academic benefits, 3 Piggy Opera provided a platform for students to build confidence and teamwork. Seeing our students work together to deliver such a polished and joyful performance was a proud moment for the entire school community.
Congratulations to our first graders on a spectacular show!
