Shelter Rock Third Graders Bring History to Life Through Wax Museum Exhibition
Third graders at Shelter Rock turned their classrooms into vibrant “living history” galleries as part of the school’s annual wax museum project, offering families an engaging look at the historical figures they’ve been studying.
This year’s event began with a lively performance in the auditorium, where students sang and shared highlights from their research process. Following the performance, families were invited to visit each classroom, now transformed into themed exhibit spaces.
Students portrayed a wide range of influential individuals – from world leaders and groundbreaking scientists to artists, athletes and pioneering changemakers. Dressed in detailed costumes and surrounded by handmade displays, each student stood ready with a “Press Me” button. A tap on the button brought the student‑historian to life as they delivered a polished biographical presentation, sharing personal stories, accomplishments and the lasting impact of their figure.
Beyond the speeches, each exhibit included written research, visual elements and carefully curated props that reflected the student’s deeper understanding of the person they chose to study.
The district applauds the third graders for their impressive preparation and confident performances. Appreciation is also extended to the teachers who guided students through weeks of research, writing and rehearsal, and to the families who joined in celebrating the students’ hard work.
