Exceptional Student Research Recognized at NYSSEF ISEF Division

On March 30, Manhasset High School students showcased their scientific expertise at the New York State Science & Engineering Fair – ISEF Division, held at the New York Hall of Science. Competing against some of the brightest young minds in the state, our researchers secured top honors across a wide range of categories, from quantum physics to molecular biology.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the following achievements:

Grand Awards

2nd Place:

Physics and Astronomy:

  • Sophia Fulton (Grade 10) and Aidan He (Grade 10): Effects of Noise on Variational Quantum Algorithms

3rd Place:

Cellular and Molecular Biology:

  • Samantha Stoneking (Grade 12): CLECL1+ CLL Cells Drive Lymph Node Fibroblast Reprogramming via Lymphotoxin Secretion

Chemistry:

  • Catherine Chen (Grade 12): Preventive and Restorative Strategies for Multifunctional Concrete Using Hydrogel Encapsulated Healing Agents and CNF: Integrated Wet-Lab and Computational Approaches
  • Isabel Gonzalez (Grade 12): Towards Highly Sensitive, Non-Invasive Liquid Biopsy-Based Cancer Detection: Evaluating The Stability of Frenkel Excitonic Supramolecular Nanoassemblies with Biological Systems

Honorable Mention

Physics and Astronomy:

  • Kristina Theodosopoulos (Grade 12): Noise-Hardened BB84: Quantifying and Mitigating Environmental Noise to Restore Secure Keys in a Classroom-Scale QKD System

Environmental Science:

  • Thomas Fini (Grade 12): Longitudinal Comparison of Microeukaryote Diversity in Contrasting Urban Reservoirs
  • Yu Xiang Lin (Grade 11) and Robert Lu (Grade 11): Iron-Based Ferrofluids Enhance Chlorella vulgaris-Mediated Bioremediation of Sewage Water Contaminants

Special Awards

U.S. Air Force – Air Force is dedicated to science & technology, focusing on innovative and creative projects with sustainability. U-S-A-F selects projects that are directly aligned with their mission.

  • Kristina Theodosopolous (Grade 12)

Congratulations to all of our student researchers for their tireless dedication, curiosity and brilliant contributions to the scientific community!
