Manhasset Public Schools proudly congratulates fourteen students from the Manhasset High School Class of 2027 who have been named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists.
The 2027 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists are:
- Rui Qing Chen
- Victor Yi Chen
- Roy Choi
- Joshua Chung
- Liam Connolly
- Sophia Jin
- Keira Mei Kong
- Jungmin Lee
- Robert Lu
- Jason Marcus
- William Pereira
- Sonia Sankar
- Nathaniel Seibert
- Louis Wong
These academically talented students join an elite group of approximately 16,000 semifinalists selected from more than 1.3 million students who entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. Semifinalists represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and are among the highest-scoring entrants in their respective states.
National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists are selected based on their exceptional performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Students must earn scores that place them among the top performers in their state, distinguishing them as some of the nation's most accomplished high school scholars.
As the competition continues, semifinalists will complete a comprehensive scholarship application detailing their academic achievements, leadership experiences, participation in school and community activities, employment and honors received. Students who advance to finalist standing will be considered for National Merit Scholarships, with scholarship winners announced beginning in the spring.
The District celebrates these outstanding students for their hard work, dedication and academic excellence and wishes them continued success in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
