Manhasset Students Selected for NYSSMA All-State Festival

Manhasset Students Selected for NYSSMA All-State Festival

The district is proud to celebrate nine exceptional student musicians who have earned recognition from the New York State School Music Association. Six students have been selected to perform in the 2026 NYSSMA All-State Music Festival, and three students have been named alternates for the prestigious event, which will be held in Rochester this December.

Selected Students:

  • Ho Yuen Chan (Violin)
  • Roy Choi (Violin)
  • William Pereira (Oboe and English Horn)
  • Emma Wang (Flute)
  • Kiley Wang (Flute)
  • Xinzhe Yang (French Horn)

Alternates:

  • Rishi Saini (Bass Trombone)
  • Theodore Shum (Ensemble Piano)
  • Anna Silva (Alto)

The NYSSMA All-State Music Festival is among the highest honors a student musician can achieve in New York State. To be considered, students must be recommended by their music teacher and perform a NYSSMA Level VI All-State solo that is evaluated by a certified adjudicator.

This achievement reflects the students' talent, dedication and commitment to excellence, as well as the support and guidance provided by Manhasset's music faculty. Teachers Jared Berry, Adam Fontana and Caroline Shyr worked closely with students throughout the preparation process, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed at the highest level.

We congratulate all nine students on this outstanding accomplishment and commend them for representing the district with pride through their musical excellence.
