Manhasset Welcomes Dr. Christopher Pellettieri as Interim Superintendent of Schools

The Manhasset Board of Education is proud to announce that Dr. Christopher Pellettieri will serve as the district’s interim superintendent of schools, effective August 1, 2025. Dr. Pellettieri will replace Dr. Gaurav Passi, who announced his departure on June 6 after six years of service to the district, including four as superintendent.

Dr. Pellettieri brings to Manhasset a wealth of experience as a dedicated and accomplished educational leader. He most recently served as superintendent of the Sachem Central School District, where he was widely respected for his commitment to academic excellence, student-centered leadership and operational transparency.

His previous experience includes Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in the Rockville Centre School District, where he played a vital role in advancing instructional practices and student achievement. His leadership in both Rockville Centre and Sachem reflects a consistent dedication to academic rigor and innovation across diverse school communities.

In addition to his experience in K–12 education, Dr. Pellettieri has served as an adjunct professor at St. John’s University, where he has helped prepare aspiring educators and school leaders. His involvement in higher education further demonstrates his commitment to lifelong learning and professional excellence.

In their letter to the community announcing the appointment, the board remarked that “Dr. Pellettieri’s thoughtful approach and passion for education align with the district’s values and aspirations. He has demonstrated an unwavering focus on fostering student development, supporting educators and building strong partnerships with families and the wider community. We are confident that Dr. Pellettieri will provide steady and inspired leadership during this transitional period. We look forward to working with him to support the continued success of all students in the Manhasset school community.”
