Students Recognized by Board of Education for Excellence in Film and Literature
At the March 6 meeting, the Manhasset Board of Education was proud to honor students who were recently recognized with national awards for film and literature.
Manhasset Secondary School junior Chloe Eng was recently awarded second place in the Vlog category in the Student Television Network (STN) Challenge Competition. STN is an association of school broadcasting, film and media programs. Chloe won for her video, “Dreams,” in which she shared some of her favorite childhood items, including her diary and ballet shoes.
The Board also recognized members of “The Phoenix,” Manhasset Secondary School’s student-run literary magazine, for two recent prestigious national accolades. The magazine was named a 2024 REALM First Class magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English and awarded first place in the American Scholastic Association literary magazine contest. Magazine editors and contributors were joined by advisors Candyce Pelfrey-Kennedy and Robert Novak for the Board recognition.
The district congratulates all the students and faculty who contributed to these award winning artistic endeavors. These awards are a testament to the creative spirit and inspiration that is coming to life every day in our classrooms.
