Munsey Park Graduate and Marines Vet Meets Students

A warm reception was given by Munsey Park fourth graders when they had a Google Meet with Major Andy Hayes, a retired veteran of the US Marines and a Munsey Park graduate.

Major Hayes shared highlights of his 14 year career in the military took questions from the students, including why he joined the military and what challenges he faced throughout his career. Major Hayes pointed out that in addition to paying tribute to those who serve or have served there are also the unsung hero family member who are home while their loved ones are serving and far away.

After the meeting, students got to work making care packages that were dropped off at the Long Island Veterans home in Stony Brook to help raise the spirits and show respect for our veterans.

This program raises awareness for students to understand the life and journey of serving in the Armed Forces and helps connect them with the heroes that go above and beyond to serve our country.
