Welcome to Shelter Rock School! We are a large public elementary school with a small-school feeling. Our theme for the 2020-21 school year is “Together.” We will continue to build on the Manhasset tradition of excellence together and provide our students with a holistic learning experience that includes a balance of academic and social-emotional support. Please take a moment to view our website to get to know more about us!

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
Our theme at Shelter Rock School for the upcoming year continues to be “Together,” as we all work together to ensure a holistic learning experience for students that includes a balance of academic and social-emotional support.
Among the many exciting curricular programs and classroom experiences this year, our Teachers College Reading Project will expand to include all kindergarten through second grade classrooms. This reading approach has helped our students to become skilled readers, writers and inquirers. As a result, they have become more avid about reading!
Our state-of-the-art, future-ready classroom renovation initiative this year includes all fifth grade classrooms, an additional sixth grade classroom and a special education classroom. These flexible learning spaces allow for better collaboration and problem-solving among students and faculty.
In addition, numerous building improvements have been made to enhance the student learning experience at our school – most notably, our art room.
I look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Tuesday, Sept. 3, which will be a half day for students in grades 1 through 6. (School begins at 8:25 a.m. and buses will leave Shelter Rock at 11:25 a.m.) Kindergarten students were mailed a special schedule for the start of school. I look forward to seeing you at one (or more) of our Open House Nights, scheduled as follows:
• Monday, Sept. 9 Grades 2, 3, and 4
• Tuesday, Sept. 10 Grades K and 1
• Monday, Sept. 16 Grades 5 and 6
Enjoy the remaining days of summer break and continue to laugh and learn!
