Thirteen students named as semifinalists in National Merit Scholarship Program

Thirteen students were announced as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program on September 9. The program gives academically talented high school seniors scholarship opportunities.

Semifinalists are determined based on how well a student scores on the Preliminary SAT, or PSAT. Out of the 16,000 semifinalists nationwide, 15,000 are expected to advance to the finalist level, where scholarship winners will be selected from.

“We are extremely proud of our 13 students who have been named National Merit Semifinalists,” said Superintendent Vincent Butera. “This accomplishment exemplifies their hard work and dedication, and we wish them much luck as they progress in the competition. I would also like to acknowledge our district teaching staff, who continue to provide an engaging and challenging curriculum that supports our students’ success.”
