Congratulations to seniors Mir Zayid Alam, Emily Ma, Emma Wang, and Julius Yoh who have been selected as 2021 Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholars. 300 high school seniors were selected as scholars from 1,760 applications. The 300 scholars and their schools will receive $2,000 each.
The Regeneron Science Talent Search provides students with an opportunity to present their research on a national stage while celebrating the hard work of young scientists. Below are the titles of the research projects from the Manhasset students who were selected as scholars:
* Mir Zayid Alam – “Identification of Genetic Biomarkers for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Using an Automated Microarray-Based Pipeline and Pathway Enrichment” * Emily Ma – “Optimizing the Efficiency of Amorphous Silicon Solar Cells” * Emma Wang – “Investigating Potential Agro-Economic Benefits of Solar Pollinator Habitats” * Julius Yoh – “The Optimization of Desalination and Ion-Removal Rate Through the Engineering of Novel Turbulent Modular Designs in an Electrodialysis System”
40 of the 300 scholars will be chosen as finalists later this month. Finalists will then compete for more than $1.8 million in awards from Regeneron.
