Students in grades 7 - 12 are now able to access the Manhasset Computer Network through a new technology - VMWare View.
View gives you access to a computer desktop with shortcuts to the same programs you use from any computer lab. This includes access to your files stored in your home directory.
This means you won't have to worry about transporting files to and from your home computer. Simply install a small piece of software or client on your home computer and access the Manhasset Network via View as if you were sitting in a computer lab.
Using VMWare view also means you'll have access to all of the software programs you can use in school - MS Office 2010, Adobe CS3, and more. So, no more difficulty with creating a document with a different version of software at home and not being able to open it in school.
If you have a Mac at home, you'll be able to turn that into a virtual pc while logged into VMWare and use the same MS Office software as we have in school - all without having to purchase it!
Instructions on how to download the client and use View are attached to the bottom of this webpage.
Please remember that the District's Acceptable Use Policy applies to the use of this new technology just as it does those computers in the computer labs.
Students should use the username and password combination they typically use in school.
